Here are the essential functions of the role:
- Lead, instruct, and motivate participants in group cycling classes.
- Teach scheduled classes, ensuring they start and end on time, including warm-up, exercises, stretching, and cool down.
- Show up on time (15-20 mins before the scheduled class time)
- Plan class curriculum, select music, and set up and take down equipment as required.
- Assist participants, answer questions, and create a positive exercise experience for individuals with varying skill levels.
- Provide a safe, effective, and supportive learning environment.
- Keep supervisor informed of customer and facility needs.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards, department policies, and facility guidelines.
- Maintain accurate class attendance records.
- Arrange for a suitable substitute in case of absence.
- Attend scheduled meetings as required.
- Live the brand values of leading by example,being relentless in finding a way,and demonstrating that we are stronger together.
- participate in promotional events,photo/video shoots,and brand initiatives
- Act as a Flyspin ambassador,both in and out of class
- Perform other related duties as necessary.
To be successful in this role, you should possess the following qualifications:
- Knowledge: Thorough understanding of Oakville city and department rules and regulations. Considerable knowledge of teaching methods and techniques that provide positive motivation. Working knowledge of human anatomy, kinesiology, and training principles. Familiarity with group fitness teaching strategies, including music incorporation and cueing techniques.
- Skills: Excellent public relations skills. Proficiency in operating the necessary equipment for the job. Choreography and music skills.
- Abilities: Ability to plan, organize, instruct, and supervise the assigned program. Capability to handle large groups of people. Ability to follow instructions, stay updated with fitness industry trends, and effectively communicate with participants. Quick and objective analysis of situations to determine the appropriate course of action. Self-sufficiency and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Identification and correction of facility safety hazards. Writing incident and accident reports when necessary. Comprehensive knowledge and adherence to emergency procedures. Exceptional interpersonal skills to establish and maintain effective relationships with the public.
Furthermore, you must hold a current CPR/AED certification.
